One boutique, three directions
Summum is a boutique agency operating across three distinct pillars: athlete management, sports partnerships, and professional performance coaching. Each pillar speaks to its own audience, from elite athletes to corporate decision-makers, and each stands strong on its own. The challenge was to bring these three directions under one coherent, premium identity, one that felt exclusive and boutique rather than broad and generic, without flattening what makes each pillar distinct.
Strategy before design
The strategy session started with the brand's character: what Summum should feel like, and where it sits on a scale from clean and minimalist to bold, from modern to classic. That exercise pointed toward a dark, confident direction, bold but grounded rather than corporate or gimmicky. One detail from that session became a real anchor for the design: the double M at the heart of "Summum", first sketched by the client as two mountain peaks, which I developed into a visual motif running through the identity. From there, I built moodboards along three distinct directions, tested them against that positioning and the brand's three pillars, and converged on the one that captured both the exclusivity and the sportiness the client was after. Every choice from there, from logo concepts to the final visual identity, was checked back against that foundation before moving forward.
A summit-worthy identity
The result is a dark, sophisticated identity carried by a single minty accent color, a nod to winter sports and the mountains at the heart of the brand's story. Large, outspoken imagery gives the brand its edge, while each of the three pillars gets its own icon and photography style to stay recognizable within one system. A technical yet modern typeface adds speed and dynamism, and the summum metaphor runs through the visual language itself, most literally in the use of contour lines as a recurring design element. Together it's an identity that feels as premium and driven as the athletes and organizations Summum works with.
